Koby Israelite Band plays ‘Orobas’
According to Koby Israelite, accordion is the new guitar. The multi-instrumentalist (specialising in accordion and drums) plays multi-genre music and has worked with some of the biggest names from different genres, from Madonna to… John Zorn.. He signed with Zorn’s Tzadik label, and went on to release four albums, including Orabas: Book of Angels Volume 4 from Zorn’s Masada cycle. Israelite draws from his diverse background of metal, jazz, gypsy and klezmer to create a colourful interpretation of the delicate and complex lyrical compositions. The influence of both Zorn and Israelite are obvious in the music. The rich diversity creates a wonderful symbiosis, which results in a refreshing rejuvenation of eight compositions that were handpicked by Zorn himself.
Israelite also composes for film, television, theatre, and ballet, and has built his own music studio. Making fun of himself is not something unusual for this man, which becomes clear if you search on YouTube for “Boycott Israelite – Koby Israelite”.
