Valerie June makes ‘organic moonshine roots music’, or a blend of country, delta blues, folk, roots and gospel. Born and raised somewhere between Memphis and Nashville, June’s music reflects the rich tradition of Southern music. The singer accompanies herself on the guitar, banjo or ukulele, and to top that off, she is blessed with a beautiful and unique voice that will grab you by the throat.
‘Pushin’ Against A Stone’, her long-awaited new album, is due for release in early May. The album was co-produced by Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys), whose influence is clearly recognisable on ‘You Can’t Be Told’. In other words: this is your chance to catch an emerging star on the verge of a possible breakthrough.
