Young Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds last year released his third album with the splendidly entitled For Now I Am Winter. It is the first album on which he uses vocals for his muted compositions. Arnalds creates minimalistic and neoclassical music based on piano, electronica and strings whereby silence is just as significant.
Arnalds’ music lends itself extraordinarily well to film and documentaries, and thus it stands to reason that he is also increasingly applying himself to film music such as the films Another Happy Day and The Hunger Games.
