Rising star Liesa Van der Aa opens Special Night on Wednesday 11 before Antony and the Johnsons and Metropole Orchestra.
This spring, Liesa Van der Aa brought out a surprising remarkable first album called ‘Troops’. With only a violin, some loop stations and her own voice she composes her own songs and creates a completely new sound. The combination of her classical education and her urge for experimenting guides to the creation of a unique sound influenced by avant-garde, soundscapes and rock music.
Her first album ‘Troops’ was produced by Boris Wilsdorf, technician of Einstürzende Neubauten. Liesa asked ten artists to work out video-clips and provided her songs on ‘Troops’ with a unique visual aspect.
Last week, Gent Jazz Festival already announced its first names. Saturday July 7 will be all about the music of Wayne Shorter with Dave Douglas & Joe Lovano Quintet: Sound Prints feat. James Genus, Lawrence Fields & Joey Barron and the Wayne Shorter Quartet. The winner of the Sabam Jazz Awards 2011 Fabrice Alleman New QuarTeT – “Obviously” will be performing that day as well.
The lineup of Wednesday July 11 is now complete with the presence of Antony and the Johnsons and Metropole Orchestra and Liesa Van der Aa.

Hey just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your article seem to be running off the screen in Opera. I?m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I thought I?d post to let you know. The style and design look great though! Hope you get the problem fixed soon. Many thanks
