The Brazilian Cibelle (pronounced "See-bell-ee") creates for every new album a whole new universe and alter ego. Her latest album ‘Las Venus Resort Palace Hotel’ features a fictitious bar in a post-apocalyptic world where her band ‘Los Stroboscopious Luminous’ provides the music. The bar is the last place on earth where the remaining people can go to party. She takes the identity of ‘Sonja Khalecallon’ and is of course the band’s singer. Cibelle doesn’t lack imagination.

Cibelle Cavali was born in São Paulo. During her teens she worked as a model and later as an actress. She finally decided to dedicate herself to music. Cibelle first appeared in a collaboration with the producer Suba with whom she recorded the album ‘São Paulo Confessions’. It was a mix of traditional music with electronic sounds. To this day, it is regarded as an important milestone within Brazilian electronic music. The first solo album Cibelle released had it’s debut when she was just 22. Meanwhile Cibelle became increasingly involved in multimedia performances. Spending more and more time in Europe, mainly Paris, she then settled in London. A third album was recorded in London, Vancouver, Berlin and her home country, Brazil. Cibelle creates music that isn’t easily defined. It’s a combination of a variety of influences including cabaret, kitsch pop and soul to Americana, jazz and bossa. Since she lives in London Cibelle’s music has a British touch. Still, her Brazilian background is always present.
