Isolde Lasoen
- Main StageTuesday 11•July•2023
18:30•19:30TICKETS FROM 54 EUROS
Isolde Lasoen is back! Not that she ever really went anywhere: as drummer for DAAN, Absynthe Minded and a wide number of other projects, the musician could always be found playing one stage or another in recent years. She has decided to take her solo career into a new direction under her own first- and last name with 'Oh Dear’, her new record set out to be released in March 2023. An album she describes as jazzy and groovy with a dash of pop and indie for good measure. She will be showcasing 'Oh Dear’ with a full band on Gent Jazz’s main stage.
"I did exactly what I wanted, this record is 100% ME.” Lasoen’s own words about her 'eccentric’ solo album where her entire musical 'being’ is heard to converge; her trained background as a jazz drummer, her love of soundtracks and their sumptuous arrangements, psychedelia, progressive rock, time-honoured funk, as well as French music à la Gainsbourg - Serge and Charlotte. The result of this interesting mix is a record that draws on extensive instrumentation, dramatic harmonies, bombast and epic melodies, all driven and powered by Lasoen herself on the drums. Cinematic like Morricone, obscure like David Axelrod and darkly romantic like Goldfrapp. All of which combines into the dream complement to her already impressive repertoire which she can now showcase out on live stages. More than enough for Isolde Lasoen - along with her band of fellow musos - to infuse a summer’s evening at the Bijloke with something that is a little bit more sultry.
