Tristan at Gent Jazz

Behind Tristan, you will find producer/singer Isolde Van den Bulcke. The twenty-six year old artist can certainly be described as one of the most promising Belgian artists of the moment. In 2015, she first emerged as SIAM and won the East Flanders music competition Oost.Best. Throughout her jazz/song music school studies in Ghent and Tilburg, Van den Bulcke developed an increasingly robust and personalised artistic vision. She threw herself - on her own! - into music production and began to create her own music. Ambitious? Definitely! It would be a shame not to be ambitious with so much talent. Tristan was born.

After the (inter)nationally praised 'Illusje’ (2018) and 'Delidomia’ (2019), her début album 'Wellif’ was released last year. Jazz is a clear influence on Van den Bulcke but she goes much further. Throughout her career, she has flirted with extremes such as Oneohtrix Point Never, through Kate Bush and Wayne Shorter to Death Grips; De Morgen could hear Hiatus Kaiyote, Bat For Lashes and even kraut and jazz/rock influences; Focus Knack saw her as a new Melanie De Biasio while The Quietus - a leading alternative British music magazine - talked in terms of "extroverted art-pop” . There is one thing everybody can agree on, however; whatever she does, Tristan does it exceptionally well. This particularly applies to her live shows - whether she is the headliner at AB, viernulvier or TRIX, part of  the warm-up programme for Tamino or TaxiWars or at a showcase festival at home or abroad... She can be relied on to draw you in with her intriguing, personalised, dark and ambient jazz pop.
