Diana Krall

Between 2012 and 2023, Diana Krall played Belgium no fewer than ten times. She previously graced the Gent Jazz stage in 2013 and 2019, described as 'brilliant’ gigs by Flemish newspaper De Morgen at the time. In 2024, the Canadian singer-pianist is set to add a third live show to her record of performances with much gusto. With over 15 million records sold, two Grammy awards - 'Best Jazz Vocal Album’ for 'When I Look in Your Eyes’ (1999) and 'Live In Paris’ (2001) - to her name and a 30-year plus career treading the line between tradition and adventure, Krall time and again manages to capture hearts with her warm timbre and sophisticated piano playing.

Canadian Krall grew up a in musical family in the 1960s and 70s. Her dad was a keen amateur pianist whereas her mum sang in the local church choir. Krall found her way to the piano aged just four (!), fell in love with jazz as a teenager and managed to get into the renowned Berklee College in Boston on the merit of her unmistakable gift for the piano. After graduating from Berklee, she moved from LA to Toronto before ending up living in New York. In 1996, Krall broke through with 'All For You: A Dedication to the Nat King Cole Trio’, her third album, which spent no less than seventy weeks on the preeminent Billboard jazz charts. Three years later, she landed her first Grammy with 'When I Look Into Your Eyes’. Throughout the noughties, she confirmed her status as one of the biggest contemporary jazz artists. Her career is typified by the way she pays tribute to the masters (Nat King Cole, George Gershwin on 'Love Is Here To Stay’) and traditional genres (traditionals, Americana or ragtime on 'Glad Rag Doll’), adventurous excursions taking in Bossa nova ('The Look of Love’) or pop/rock ('Wallflower’, 'The Girl in the Other Room’) and even an entire album with Christmas classics. In a nutshell, Diana Krall has music to cater for every taste. Which is best savoured at her fantastic and compelling live performances. Don’t miss her!
