Ibrahim Maalouf
- Main StageThursday 10•July•2025
Ibrahim Maalouf is one of the most innovative trumpeters of our times. The genres and worlds that he loves to combine and confront include jazz, baroque, contemporary classics and Arabic music but also pop music and hip hop. He picked up the trumpet from his father, Nassim Maalouf, the inventor of the quarter-tone trumpet on which Arabic scales can also be played, and quickly caught the eye of artists such as Sting, Amadou & Mariam, Vanessa Paradis, Archie Shepp and the legendary producer Quincy Jones as a result of his unparalleled talent for improvisation and virtuosity. Since 2007, as well as seventeen studio albums, he has published numerous soundtracks and compositions too. He also has two Grammy nominations to his name. Hist latest album - Trumpets of Michel Ange - is an adventure in philosophy, history and music that will take the listener to a world where folklore and modernity are combined. Le Figaro lifts the lid on his live reputation: "Ibrahim Maalouf manages to make a huge show somehow feel intimate."
