Leif Vollebekk

Iceland proves time and again to be a very special place. As well as the fact that many impressive Icelanders have achieved global fame, the country also serves as a source of inspiration for visitors. This was also the case for Canadian artist Leif Vollebekk. He spent some time there while studying philosophy, and wrote his first songs. In 2017 he broke through on the global stage with 'Twin Solitude’, an album full of introspection and melancholy tracks carried by his fragile voice and minimalist instrumentation. Drawing from his own life and observations, this man knows how to talk about feelings. His music has been hailed by The New York Times, Pitchfork, and the BBC and his songs can be heard in popular TV series such as The New Pope and Shrinking. For last year's release 'Revelations’, Vollebekk was inspired by (his own) dreams and the lives of existentialist philosophers. His self-produced album is a quest for what’s beyond, for deeper meaning and answers to the Big Questions, without any hint of pathos. Honesty and intimacy are the corresponding code-words which make him both unique and adored. After all, you don’t just reach 60 million streams by chance! This is not to be missed!
